I never intended to "neglect" my little blog & friends out here, but my new job has kept me hopping. As you can imagine, starting a job with the postal service during the holiday season left me with little time to do nothing but sleep after work! I have been thoroughly enjoying this new chapter in my life! I got in a bit of a "creative funk" last year & it's just now slooowly starting to peek its way back in! While I haven't had time to get started on anything, I hope to in the very near future...

For my customers who visit my booth at the Depot at Gibson Mill, I will be stocking in with lots of spring goodies & new candles in the next week or two! :)

And, PLEASE NOTE for my storefront customers ~ The shop hours were changed to Saturdays ONLY 10-6. But, due to my work schedule (I am always scheduled on Saturdays), and finding someone to run the shop, there are some Saturdays it hasn't been open until after lunch. I sincerely apologize for this, but in lieu of that situation, please call ahead before you head this way to make sure someone will be here!

With the change of Seasons comes other changes..

We're finally getting fall-like weather here in N.C.! Along with the changes in the seasons, there's a few changes going on here at the shop. I was given the opportunity to take a wonderful job, and as a result there will be a few changes here.
Effective November 8th, the shop will ONLY be open on Saturdays from 10am-6pm & weekdays by appointment only.

Some of my close customers & friends who already knew of this change have been wonderfully supportive & excited ~ but a little worried if this means I will stop creating..My answer to that is ~ ABSOLUTELY NOT! Once it's in your blood, you can never get rid of it!
I will continue to create my goodes, will be KEEPING my space at The Depot in Concord, as well as INCREASING my wholesale end (so for you shop owners who have aquired in the past, I am now accepting new customers).

Thank you so much for almost 8 years of wonderful business & hope to see ya'll soon!

With Memorial Day weekend upon us, I've done up the front display with a few Patriotic items!
Also NEW in the shop, after many requests, I've done my popular Apple Brown Betty scent in my fixens line! Along with the new addition, comes a new look to that line! I hope you'll like the new labeling!

AND, I'm working on some new handmades ~ mostly with a patriotic theme, and am planning a special GLoRy DaYs event here at the shop ~ DETAILS TO FOLLOW!!!

My 3rd Annual Spring Tyme in the Country will be this weekend!! Saturday 10am-6pm & Sunday 1pm-5pm! The shop is overflowing with loads of new goodes to decorate your home & garden! Handmades (rabbits, chicks birdhouses, & more!), NEW goatsmilk soaps scents (new packaging too!), garden goodes, antiques, goode junk & much MUCH more! So much, I've had to spill everything out into the yard! Here's a SNEAK PEAK of just a few of the goodes for sale.....

NEW oLDe Finds & a Make-Over!!

After a stressful day yesterday, this morning I decided to venture out just over the road a bit....and came home with a wonderful haul!!

Best of all was the price ~ I won't divulge the exact amount, but starts with an "f" ::big grin::!! Old windows, a neat chippy paint work table (thinking would be a wonderful potting bench!), old flower pots, a few neat industrial metal bins, etc!
Some of the goodes will be SQUEEZED into the shop, and some will go to my booth at the Depot at Gibson Mill!!

And, now for a JUST A FEW of the NEW "OLD" pieces now for SALE in the shop!

This old ice box made me SWOON!! LOVE the chippy white paint & the rusty metal door!
And the INSIDE?!LINED WITH AN OLDE COCA-COLA SIGN!!
I had a really hard time deciding to part with this piece, but sadly I can't keep everything! lol

Another favorite is this wonderful old 1800s trunk ~ still has traces of the paper lining too!
and this WONDERFUL chippy metal medicine cabinet!

THE MAKE-OVER!!

this weathered old table was part of my haul this mornin...had traces of yucky leather covering it that I promptly ripped off....digging thru my STASH of feedsacks, I knew JUST the one to use!!
NOW a WONDERFUL bench, ottoman, or coffee table!! Soo many uses ~ it's a great size and a perfect height!!

Thinking this piece will head to the Depot for sale.....

I'm now back to sewing ~ preparing lots of wonderful new handmades for my 3rd annual Spring Tyme in the Country March 20th & 21st!!! More to come on that....

I'm excited to announce I just received my shipment of this WONDERFUL NEW primitive magazine! They are headed out to the shop in just a few!! Stop in SOON if you'd like to purchase a copy ~ I think they're going to go fast!! I took a limited quantity to my space at The Depot at Gibson Mill and have already sold a few there!
AND!!!!!

I've been scouring the countryside for lots of new goodes for the shop!! Along with the "new" old finds, I'm popping some spring in here & there ~ seems people are ready for a little bit after this unseasonable winter we've had here in NC (though, I admit, I have LOVED the COLD! and SNOW!)

It's almost time!! My annual Olde Fashioned Valentine's will be held

I have opened ANOTHER space, in a wonderful olde mill that has been restored!
It's location is in Concord, NC, so my Charlotte customers --> there's now a closer shopping spot!! This location features my handmades, olde goodes, candles, potpourri, etc!
It's a HUGE old mill with TONS of WONDERFUL vendors ~ my dear bud Beth (Olde Tyme Marketplace), Janna (Artsy Fartsy), Betty Ann Morgan (Nails, Thorns & Blessings), and MANY MANY more!!

Bright and early Saturday mornin, I headed out to try to find a few goodes for the shop before openin...I only had a few hours to kill, but managed to snag a lot in that period of time!

Arriving home....
Chippy, crackly, rusty..LoVe!Some of the goodes are heading into the shop this week, a few new a bit of TLC, and the olde wicker chairs & iron bed (to be turned into something extra sweet) will be ready Spring Tyme in the Country! (coming in March!)...

As for the rest of my weekend, Sunday out & about produced a few smalls...which will head into the shop this week too ('cept for the garden-y goodes ~ again for Spring Tyme in the Country)!

I'm a happy junker & the shop is looking HAPPY again (after christmas, things look so "sad" & empty)!

The sewing machine has been fired up again today & will hum away for the next few days to have some new handmades ready for the weekend!

The Mayonnaise Jar

I stumbled upon this on another blog today & wanted to share it along....

The Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle,
When 24 hours in a day is not enough;
remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, wordlessly,
he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
and start to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
it into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again
if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand
and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded
With an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table
and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things - God, family,
children, health, friends, and favorite passions
Things that if everything else was lost
and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the things that matter like your job, house, and car.

The sand is everything else --
The small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued,
'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are
important to you.

So...

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play with your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time
to clean the house and fix the dripping tap.

'Take care of the golf balls first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand
and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled.

'I'm glad you asked'.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend..'

They say once a junker...always a junker...it's just in your blood...

I kept telling myself that as I've struggled thru a big "funk" both creatively & personally...My dear friend Judy, from the Cinnamon Stick, has been trying her best to help get me out of it & I truly appreciate the friendship & encouragement! I love you Judy!

I've been trying...I really have...went junkin a few weeks ago & it didn't work...I didn't feel a thing....which brought me down even more....

so today I took a jaunt to one of my first junkin grounds from many years ago..hoping to spark something...with a good friend in tow, what a nice day it turned out to be...

And LUCKILY

IT IS STILL IN MY BLOOD!!!

While I didn't find a ton of smaller goodes like I normally do, today scored me a few larger pieces to fill in some of the EMPTY spaces in the shop...I LOVE LOVE LOVE everything!! Every piece is already in the shop ready for Wednesday...EXCEPT the 5 gallon Red Wing crock ~ THAT piece has to be added to my Red Wing collection....::big smile::

Into the shop also went some "smalls" that I had picked up in my trip to Pa back in the fall..yes, I KNOW, FALL! But, better late than never!

AND, oh JUDY!! I am SEWING again!! FINALLY! Soo those heading to the shop later this week will find all sort of new handsewn wares..I'm slowly getting there....

Change of plans...

Well, as most of you all know, I close the shop from Christmas eve thru New Years day to take a bit of a break & enjoy time with family & friends...as well as a nice road trip somewhere! BUT due to a few personal reasons , travel was put on the back burner. Soooo, the shop has already reopened for the "new" year!
I am back to regular shop hours ~
Wednesday thru Saturday 10am-6pm

Now, I LOVE winter ~ & am still hoping for a good snow..I have 2 great sledding hills I itch to play on every year ~ yes, still a kid at heart! LoL..Anywho, that said, I have not put away all the winter goodes just yet...there's just a few snowmen left, though!

Christmas at the Cabin & NEW shop goodes!

Well, I normally spend ALL of my energy decorating the shop & forget about the house...And, while I did bust my butt to get the shop all festive for the holiday season, I managed to have a bit of spirit left to do a little in the house too...LITTLE being the operative word, but "little" is better than NONE! LoL I just wanted a simple look this year...
So, starting at the front door, come on in...
I decided I wanted a REAL tree for the first time ever (well, since I was a little girl)...I LOVE it! And so far, the cats have been better with it than an artificial!?!
Just simple with lights & a few glass bulbs....
Next, is the mantle...again simple...And, of course, the letters look MUCH better than in the pic ~ they're much more dark & distressed...
The santa & the pillow set, both made by me, sit atop an old 1800's quilt & chippy old chair...
The angel (also made by me), and the star candle holder (Pa amish made), sit on a cupboard at the end of the hallway....
And, my dear friends from Bloemenbinder's made this wonderful arrangement...my purchase while I was part of their wonderful home show last weekend!

And, FINALLY!! SHOP NEWS!!!
While the year is winding up & those are finishing up holiday shopping, I have added a few more goodes for those last minute shoppers! I've added lots of new sweet winter/snowman notepads ~ great stocking stuffers, coworker gifts, neighbors, etc....AND those little red & white pillows I made from the old quilt? Well, I FINALLY got the big ones done! So they're heading out to the shop in the morning! Along with a few more candles (wynter scents too!)!

AND, weather-permitting (tho I am REALLY hoping for this snow), Saturday will be "Sample Saturday"...There will be LOTS of samples of the food goodes for sale in the shop, and I will also have some pumpkin bread mini loaves for sale & hopefully a few more baked goods...again, if weather permits...if not, I will do Sample Day next week!

Well, I survived yet another year of the Southern Christmas Show!! 14 days in a camper had this chick ready to run! But, it saved me money from the hotel for sure! Busy busy here now to prepare for my ~

As I'm busy sewing away on winter goodes for our upcoming show & "Christmas in the Country" at the shop, I wanted to still make sure to wish everyone a safe & Happy Halloween!!

My sweet kitty Hummy (named so as he hums instead of meows) loved this hay bale on the shop porch this season...this was shortly after his first birthday.....sadly, he has been missing for a week ~ and we're afraid coyotes or a bobcat have gotten him....i'm still praying though that he comes home...

Not a lot to post ~ or time to post, I guess I should say ~ these days as I'm feverishly working to get my winter handmades done! I have a 12 day show in November (this year it's 13 days) and our 7th annual Christmas in the Country Open House will be the weekend after we get done with this show! Yikes!

BUT since it's not even Halloween yet, I didn't want to get into all winter here, sooo in keeping with fall, here's a sweet pic of my kitty Boogie ~ aka Bat Cat! LoL

Country Living follow-ups!

For those who have asked

"Have you heard anything from Country Living?"

The answer is YES!!

As many of you know, I'm sure, Country Living now has a wonderful bedding & home line in Sears & KMart (if this is news to you, GO CHECK IT OUT!)...

So what does this have to do with us???

We were asked to build displays for their NY showroom! We constructed them from reclaimed oak & did a wonderful rubbed finish to them (hard to see in the pics). David did a wonderful job of construction (I helped with the finish & of course, supervisor! LoL)

Fall Fever...

I admit, I LOVE fall!! AND Halloween!! And, I've got the fever!
Ok, I've had it for a while, but have restrained myself in the shop! You have no idea how hard it is NOT to put fall things out at the end of July! BUT I hate forcing things in too early, and well, it's also too darn hot!
So to help with the "fever", I've been working feverishly on all sorts of wonderful goodes for our Harvest Gathering, to be held September 19th & 20th!!!

99% of the new fall handmades will not make their "debute" until that weekend,
BUT
I am still putting in a bit of FALL here in there in the shop!
So if you're getting the "fever", too, we've got some neat fall goodes to help you out!!

YES, we're home from Pa ~ we left Saturday morning for our annual fall run up to Pa to find goodes for the shop! We had a wonderful ~ beit fast paced ~ trip up & came home with lots of new stuff!

Of course, I had to stop by my dear friend Judy's (Cinnamon Stick) shop in Hereford, Pa. It was a quick visit, next time we're going to have to make it longer! I never seem to have my camera when we visit, but this time I did, so I made sure David took a pic of the two of us together!I look a WRECK ~ this was after a FULL day of flea-markets & antique shops in 95 degree weather (103 with the heat index!). And Judy, adorable as always, but HID her NEW glasses!

NOW, thanks to the wonderful camera my sweet hubby & parents gave me for my birthday back in May, I was able to take some pics of our fave areas. Now, mind you, Dave & I are always on a "mission", so it's what I call
TOUR GUIDE AT 55 (mph)...
My new camera has a movement mode, so I was able to take pics as David zoomed by! The TOUR will be saved for another post later on!

In the meantime

With the exception of 4 or 5 things that are for me, everything is for the SHOP!
ALOT is already out there, NOTHING is priced yet LoL (I hope to do that in the a.m.).

Changing Seasons.....

Days have been busy here preparing goodes for both fall & winter...Fall has consumed this week as I feverishly try to get a good handle on my fall goodies so I can get back to the pile of Christmas....I'm no where near done with all the goodes for our HARVEST GATHERING but witches, pumpkin girls, scarecrows, & more are covering every inch of my workroom & house...along with polyfil & threads! LoL

And I have my hands FULL with sneaky lil' gals trying to head on out to the shop!

BUT I keep telling them they have to WAIT!!
Just a little longer!UNTIL WHEN you ask??

Home Tour...Part 2...

Ok, so I said at some point I'd try to do another part of my home soon...well, I haven't felt too swift this evenin', so I thought I'd post some pics of our sunroom...As several know, we just finished our sunroom recently (after 5 years of only needing the floor done!! yiyiyi!!)....

So ya ready???? here we gooo......

First stop is the sweet chippy red swing I found junkin'....PERFECT for swingin' the day away (if I ever had the time!).....the flag quilt I made (I make them & sell them in the summer months)....and the pillow is also my little ditty as well...The little cabinet I got from my bud & junker, Janna. LOVE it!
Next up ~ this area is still a work in progress...The make-do couch is actually a chippy rusty blue/gray army cot that came out of my great uncles barn when we bought the barn & the land that is now our sheep pasture from him....David cut me a piece of plywood & a thick piece of foam to make the cushion...and I covered it with a great old quilt that happened to be backed with wonderful blue homespun ~ I need to adjust it, though, to hide that tear! I just haven't had the time to do it!! I'm thinking on some type of slipcovers for the pillows for the rest of the year...and possibly finagling up some type of "back"....The olde scrub-top bench I picked up in a fave stop in Pa...Bought it for the shop & couldn't part with it! LoLAnd last for this evenin....Remember that chippy great old country store screen door that hubby picked up at an auction for me a few months back?? Well, here she hangs in all her glory! I LOVE it! As I've mentioned before, I have a "thing" for olde advertising and this is the 3rd old country store screen door I have with the olde door guard on it ~ one is hanging as the screen door to the shop, then there's this one here, and the 3rd is the door that hides my laundry room.....that part of the tour will come later!

A FUN, SuPriSiNg weEkeND!

Thanks to my mom agreeing to watch the shop for us, Saturday morning bright & early David & headed out on the 3 hour trip to Afton, Va. to check out the Gathering at the Cabin.We got there shortly after it started & while I had hoped there would be more vendors, we were tickled to be able to visit with dear friend Barbara & her hubby Giles ~ and of course, get my "fix" from her! Since she closed her shop in West Jefferson, I don't get to see her nearly as much as I used to...Here's their booth~F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S as always!And, after sporadic emails thru the years with Lori of Notforgotten Farm, we finally got to meet! She's just as down-to-earth & cool in person ~ I knew she would be! While it was quite warm ~ heck, HOT! ~ in the mountains Saturday, Lori had the cool spot on the porch~

Now....the MOST exciting part of our weekend~

David & I went junkin' Sunday & while I was paying at one of our fave antique shops, this cool~lookin' chic beside me commented on the goodes I had nabbed. So she introduces herself, gives me her card ~ she's the editor-at-large for a magazine ~ and said to shoot her some pics as she'd like to see some of my house...So I tell her I have a shop, too, and long story short, we (Dave & I) said we'd be HAPPY to open the shop anytime this week while they're in town, no biggie after hours or before...Well, Sunday was their only day they could come, so a few hours later, she & her co-worker came by for a visit...They were BOTH very COOL & both very complimentary of everything ~
and I was in AWE! (shhh...I was trying to be cool!!!)...

They visited about an hour or so ~ we chatted & she took lots of pics of the shop & of the house ~ and even stopped to shoot a few pics of our girls (sheep) at the barn on their way out....

Not every day does this happen..especially in our little world.....and I have SUCKY luck, so for this to happen to me at all was some sort of divine intervention, I think! (or so my friend said LOL)

A Brief Retreat....

My mom called on Friday evening & said she was taking my grandma & my grandma's 2 sisters to the beach for the weekend (my mom's brother has a place down there). And she wanted me to go along.
Well, David had to work so I knew I couldn't leave the shop closed...but David seemed to think I needed a break & really wanted me to go so he called my lil bro (not really my brother but close enough!) and he agreed to watch the shop for me! So I was up packing at 5 am Saturday morning & we were out the door!
I haven't been to the beach in around 8 years and it was SOOO nice to leave my CHRISTMAS work behind & relax ~ even if just for a few days! The weather was perfect, the sun was shining & it wasn't too hot!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! My brief "retreat" was a nice break ~ now I'm back to reality & BURIED in SNOWMEN & SANTAS and more!

The Mystery of the Falling Dill....

It started a few weeks ago...

My dill was bent over...

so I did my best to straighten it back up. It would be fine for a few days...then falling over again...

This process has went on over & over for weeks...

and it continued...

It sits in a pot on top of my potting bench & only seemed to be affected during nitetime hours....

WHAT could be doing this??

Well, hubby saw what was causing the problem a few nights ago & tonite I caught the culprit in action:

My sweet little Hummie (he hums instead of meowing) apparently finds my dill the perfect spot to curl up & sleep at nite...ahhh....good thing I love him ~ AND I have another dill plant too thick for him to do this to ~ at least, I hope!!

I'll be first to admit, gracefulness is NOT my strongsuit....So Tuesday, amidst hauling all my treasures (in the last post) from the truck into the sunroom (so I could take a pic & figure out where things will be dispursed) I fell in our walkway. I was carrying the old wooden drink crate with things in it & next thing I know...CRASH!! I fell so hard & so fast, I didn't know what happened until I was on the ground. I fell face first, landing on a landscape timber & a few bricks, with the drink crate sorda into my stomach...YES! It hurt....When D came home he wanted to take me to the Dr., but I refused....By Wednesday I was hurting pretty good so my mom drug me to an urgent care...3 x-rays later, I have fractured ribs. Akkk!! Well, let's just say the pain is continuing to progess instead of lessen, so by the end of each workday, I've been too sore to do much other than lay back with an ice pack....

Soooo, as I'm laying here on the couch, I'm admiring a few of my favorite things, and since I can't do much else, I thought I'd share pics of them with you!

The first pic is our fireplace & mantle...My daddy laid all the rock! The mantle will soon be replaced with a beam from the old mill (read about it here if you missed out). David has the afixiation with old lanterns ~ I am honestly running out of room to put them but he keeps buyin' them! LoL The white star is made by the Amish up in Pa from salavaged barn tin! We sell them here in the shop!

Next, is a new grouping I just finished a few weeks ago....well, I'm still tweaking bits on the inside, but you get the gist...The top part is an old hanging cupboard I bought in Pa during Christmas & it's sitting on an old table that USED to be the base of an old stepback...David sat the cupboard down there while we were trying to figure out how high to hang the cupboard & I liked it so we left it! A few of my favorite things are tucked about ~ the large basket sitting on top I got from my dear friend Judy during our last trip up to Pa...And, lastly for tonite, is my old make-do screen safe...I found this in an antique shop a few years ago & fell in love! I put it in layaway not having a clue where I could fit it, but knowing I had to have it! When it came home it had to sit in our unfinished sunroom until I could figure out a place to put it...It just moved in during Christmas (after almost 2 years on our unfinished sunroom!). I love it!! It's made from an old shipping crate...the things they MADE-DO with soo many years ago!! Also tucked in is probably my hugest addiction ~ OLDE quilts!!... A few yellowware bowls sit in the top ~ I love yellowware, but these are the only 2 pieces I've been able to snag cheap enough to come home with me..and a stack of old seamless sacks ~ Bemis, Fulton, any Seamless advertising sack...WHY do I collect them? I have NO clue! I just love them! :)

Well, that's it for tonite!! Maybe one nite again soon I'll take you on more of a tour of our cabin!

Saturday morning bright & early, mom & I headed up to the mountains, leaving David to "man" the shop! (he did a great job, as always!).....So mom & I hit just about every thrift & junk store between here & my parent's place in West Jefferson. Almost all. But, this turned out to be the most productive junkin' trip in a while! ESPECIALLY for what I got for the $$!

EVERYTHING in the pic INCLUDING the chippy white bench was found on our journeys! Well, except for Mara (the kitty) who was inspecting everything while I was trying to take the pic!

A FEW things are MINE! LoL For the sunroom we're finishing up (the bench will stay where it's at...the basket I have an afixiation for so it'll have to stay...)...The quilt will become pillows for Christmas sales (great red & white!)..... I ALSO GOT a GREAT OLD milk can that will look great with some dried in the top! It'll most likely go to Salisbury....The rest will be dispursed between our shop here & our booth in Salisbury!

I also got this OLD 20's era laundry basket....I'm a little frustrated with it at the moment ~ you see, it's a collapsable basket & the lady I bought it from, just HAD to show me & now I can't figure out how to fully pop it back up into place...ugh...I'm sure David will figure it out...I hope!
It'll be a great display piece for pillows & such in the shop!

Firefox & Internet Explorer......a debate on the internet....

First off, this is NOT going to be a prim-related post....sorry!....but for a bit of time I'm going to revert to my nerdy side & talk a bit about Internet Explorer & Foxfire...I promise to TRY to not bore you..and HOPEFULLY HELP a few!

Now, I have been a LOYAL follower for YEARS to Internet Explorer...Never even peeked at anything else.....no need to...no issues....

With a NEW computer came a NEW version of Internet Explorer....and within the past month, automatic downloads for updates for Internet Explorer (courtesy of Microsoft)....
GREAT! Right???....

WRONG!

SUDDENLY, I had issues that I've never had BEFORE the updates OR with older issues of IE....The MAJORITY of the issue was with a LOT of blog sites......It was random..Some days these sites would be a-ok...Other days I would get an error message that the page couldn't work or somethingorother.....or the page would only partially load (for example, on my friend Beth's site, a lot of times I would only see her background & sidebar info & NONE of the posts)....

Soo, I'm thinkin' it HAS to be me....Then I do a little digging...

Come to find out I was NOT ALONE!! AND this apparently has been going on for a while with IE...a problem to which I've read they've been well aware of for a looong time & haven't done anything...

Well this week I have a new download & I hold my breath & think maybe...???

NOPE.

While on one of the few blogger sites that WOULD load right for me, I discovered this lady had the same problem....Her solution? Mozilla Firefox..

I read their reviews....checked out what they had to offer...and STILL held my breathe...

BUT tonite was the LAST straw! I downloaded Firefox. WHICH was VERY easy to install AND saved ALL my bookmarks & everything!! AND it's super-fast!! A few things a wee bit different than IE, but nothing I can't deal with!

SOME "PERKS" of Firefox:

*Faster speed (YIPPEE)
*Zooming In & Out on webpages ~ SEE HERE
*Higher Security
etc.....

Soo any of you out there having problems with blogger pages or other funky pages, there IS an option!!

A Tweet Visitor!

The other day, as I went to go out onto the porch at the shop to enjoy my lunch, I suddenly stopped at the door at the site of a little visitor already sitting in the swing...This sweet young dove apparently was just learning to fly or had a hairy flight. He was breathing heavily & seemed really tired..But, he did seem to enjoy my picture~taking! And let me walk all around him without a care! He stayed for over an hour & finally flew away! Hope his journeys are safe now :smiles:

Thank you to all the wonderful customers who showed up for our Patriotic Gathering at the shop! We had a wonderful day & enjoyed seeing old friends & new!

Here's just a sampling~ And of course, the food!! David picked up the really cool cupcake star in the back ~ our local wal-mart got creative & took a dozen cupcakes, put them into the shape of a primitive star & then iced the whole thing together! It was really neat! (and yummy!)

On another note, Sunday was a trip with friends to Va for a great sale & a few antique shops along the way! We were able to pick up some great goodies for the shop! And Monday David & I headed into town & hit the only antique shop open & also found some neat things there!

Sooo by THIS weekend LOTS of new antique pieces AND MORE HANDMADES will be in the shop!!

A note to our Salisbury customers ~ we just restocked some great handmades down in our booth last nite & also took in a great new primitive chimney cupboard that david & I finished up on Monday!

Patriotic Gathering here at the shop! ALL the patriotic/Americana goodies I've been working on will debute on Saturday! Handmades, wooden wares, and all sorts of things for your home for the patriotic season (or if you're like me & celebrate America year round!)!! And of course, FOOD! We'll have wonderful snacks to munch on while you shop!

OUR PATRIOTIC GATHERING WILL START ON OPENING SATURDAY AT 10am & WILL RUN UNTIL 6pm!

This time of year my seasons start to run together ~ because of the large show we do in November PLUS the events we hold here in the fall/winter, I have to start on things EARLY! So, this week ~ in between turning lots of pottery ~ I've also been busy finishing up the last bits of AMERICANA for our little event later next week (STAY TUNED for details!)...And earlier this week I started on some of my winter/CHRISTMAS...But, yesterday & today I took a break to work on HALLOWEEN!!

It was too pretty to stay inside, though, so in between customers (yay!) yesterday & today, I took advantage of the nice weather & made myself a little "nest" on the swing at the shop & punched away..One Halloween punch piece was finished yesterday & most of this one got done today (hope to finish the background tonite)....Now, I CAN'T show a close-up of this punchneedle piece as it'll be saved for our Harvest Gathering, but ya get the idea!

Nothing like an old swing, an old quilt, handwork, birds chirping...and even a sprinkle of rain!

~~Berry Tyme!~~

After I closed up the shop yesterday evening, David & I went to the berry farm to pick up our berries. Now, I was going to actually pick them, but for the quantity I was getting, I decided I could just pay them the extra $1 a gallon & get them already picked. LoL. Here's the back of my jeep when we got home ~ 11 gallons, PLUS the farmer dumped 3 ~ 1/2 gallon baskets in free! :) These are the biggest, reddest, juicest berries I've ever had!

I gave 2 gallons to my elderly neighbor friend (who is like a grandmother to me) ~ she loves to garden, can & freeze but hasn't been able to like she used to could because of her sick husband (she has her hands full) ~ she was so excited!! And, my mom & I took 2 gallons to a friend who's 25 year old son was killed in a tragic wreck this past week, 4 gallons went to my mom, and the rest are MINE! I've made one batch of freezer jam (will be doing another batch today), frozen a bunch of 2-cup packs to be ready for cobblers or pies this winter (yum!!), and I'll be eating a bunch of them this week!

This olde flag is one of my collection & is draped on the back of an old chair with an small old wooden trencher sitting in it....Well, Mara thinks that trencher's the perfect spot to curl up! She KNOWS she's not supposed to, but sometimes she's stubborn!! Tonite she curled up in there & looked so sweet & patriotic I thought it fitting for our lead into our Americana season in the shop! :)

Finishing up a few goodes for the shop this morning...I make these daisies almost every spring & always love the end result BUT BOY do they kill the fingers with all the handsewing! Anywho, here's a couple arrangements I made up with my daisies ~ flash makes them a bit brighter of course! ~ both have preserved sweet annie, too, so it'll always stay green!

While I'm at it, here's a cool prim cat I just finished up & took out to the shop. She has more facial details, but they didn't show up too well in the pic~

AND on another note ~ this is the goodie David came home with from auction Saturday. This old screen door will be my screen door going from the kitchen into our sun room! Can't wait for him to get it up!! I have a "thing" for old advertising! LoL The screen door at the shop has an old Kerr bread door guard, I have an old country store screen door with a Sunbeam door guard as the door for our laundry room & now this one with the Merita!! ::big smiles::

Oh & ignore the boxes in the background~ those would be the box lots he brought home from auction...

The old chalkboard hanging behind the counter lists what's coming up & going on in the shop!

Seems we're pretty much skipping spring & going straight to summer...again...seems to be a trend the last few years, thanks to the darn global warming! I must say, I am NOT a summer person...I always say in the winter you can add more layers...in the summer you can only take OFF so much! Ha! The only thing I DO like about summer is being able to have a big display all things patriotic! I LOVE americana goodes, flags, etc. & you'll find all sorts of these goodes in the shop by mid-May! I'll post here when ready!

I shot this picture of Callie (our shop cat) Saturday. She knows where to stay cool ~ sitting on top of our antique Coca-Cola box (still works! with ice cold glass bottle drinks for sale). You'll find her here on those hot days waiting to greet you!

PS! The NEW patriotic background was purely coincidence ~ I accidentally deleted my other background & can't find it, so had to stick something in there! Think I kinda like it though! :)

oLd WoOd & 2 posts in ONE day!

I know, it's amazing! 2 posts in ONE day! LoL I just had to show what hubby came home with!

An 1896 mill in an adjoining town is being torn down. While they are salvaging what lumber & brick they can, there is a massive pile of lumber, beams, etc that can't be used by "modern folk". Some of this lumber dates back to the 1500's! YES you read that right!! So, David was given permission to take what he'd like, and this is what he came home with on day 1. I couldn't get it all in the picture because I couldn't let the tailgate down with that big beam on it..But the bed is FULL!!....SO he WILL be making a few more trips back!!! That big post sticking out the back? 24" thick. I TRIED to count all the rings, but they get so incredibly tight that there's just no way!

One of the big beams will become our mantle & the white thingie he has several of ~ they are what supported the posts & beams...thinkin' they'll make some neat benches....

AND

there are quite a few bricks that are "cull" so he will be gathering some of that for my shop walkway! I can't wait!!! To have something with so much history!! I'll be sure to post the pics of the end results & the things David makes too! :)

A BuSy FeW WeEkS!

Time sure does fly! Can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since my last post! BUT I do have a good excuse! I've been busy sewing away goodes for the shop! The following pictures are what I finished last week! Sweet primitive dolls, mice, sheep, prairie dolls (2 different styles), black angels, etc....All these things are in the shop ~ some went to Salisbury, too. AND I have another pile of goodes I'm finishing up today that will be out in the shop in the morning! I'll do my best to take pics of them too! :)

There's also several new OLD finds that went out to the shop today! So hope you can stop in soon!

Hope you all have had a Blessed Easter!!

Well, first let me say, the main "box" in our area for internet was affected by Friday eve's storms...so we were without until today! YES! They came out on a Sunday AND a holiday on top of that! I think they got tired of me & the neighbors all calling! LoL So I was a bit lost for a few days, but BOY the spring cleaning I've gotten done! We have a TON of things to go to the Salavation Army this week ~ it sure feels good getting rid of a lot of this clutter!!! (of course none of my olde stuff goes, just stuff that's been boxed away in closets & the basement for yearrrrsssssssss)...

Easter is a simple day for Dave & I. We celebrate the reason for this day but we don't do a big meal or anything. Instead, this year we decided to go out & have a nice late breakfast. From there we rode by one of the antique shops in town to see if they would be opening..Yup, at 1. BUT it was 11:30....Wait! Look!! There's the man opening up early! Yippee!! We were able to pick up a few things to fill in a few gaps in the shop! Just a bit of cleaning up & these goodies will be in the shop when we open on Wednesday! Well, minus the gas can, which we be transformed into one of David's cool goodes before it's ready to sale! :)

A Productive Day!

Well, it has been a fairly productive day today! I got several new goodies done & out to the shop! Have several more things I hope to finish up tonite to go out Saturday & some "new" OLD things to get out there & get priced! Hope you all have a happy Easter! We will be open Saturday 10am-6pm!

Of course, it's raining so had to use the flash, which makes everything soooo much brighter...the rabbit...I SWORE no more rabbits for a while...I actually started on her before my spring open house BUT couldn't figure out where I wanted to go with her so she just sat on my sewing table...FINALLY figured out how I wanted her to look so I finished her up this morning! :) She's much more darker & olde looking in person & neat enough to stay out year round too!

Also in the pic are some more of my little bird pillows...the others sold so fast a lot missed them...LOVE how the sheep set came out...and did up a couple wool crow pillows too!!

Meet Mr. Jack Rabbit! He's the newest bunny to hop into the shop this week!! He's got a little "saddle bag" made from an old cutter quilt..Filled with carrots!! His sweet little tail is wool from my real sheepies ~ felted on (broke my very last felting needle, too! darn it!)...I've made up just a few of these guys, so hurry in before they hop away to other homes!

Meet Maggie..AND my fave rabbit!

Meet Maggie....She kinda "slipped" into our lives....We had a momma cat show up back in the summer...preggers..and Maggie was one of her kittens..Well, I tried all summer & fall to find homes for all the kittens ~ 5 in all. And finally resigned they will live here forever (minus the 1 who was adopted).. So 2 weeks ago we got all the boys "fixed". So last week was Maggie's turn. While recouping we let her live in our bathroom. Well, she would take the VENT COVER OFF! and come THRU the DUCTS out in the living room where we would be by pushing UP to knock the vent off!! No matter what we sat over the vent she would move it (she's a little Hercules!). Seems she just wanted to be where we were..So we started just leaving her out...while she recouped...then she was going to be an outside kitty with her brothers....well she apparently had other plans!....and I am kind of enjoying the sweetness of her. Granted, we have 2 wonderful, loving kitties who live inside with us, but Maggie seems just....different....wherever I am, she is...and never leaves my side...I guess she sensed I have been lost without my sweet Freckles & is trying to fill the void....so inside she seems to be staying! :)

The picture is her sleeping on the recliner..hehehe!

NOW....I've made a BUNCH of bunnies this season & finished up several new ones that went to the shop this morning BUT this gal is my FAVE bunny I've made so far! She has already hopped her way to her new home with one of my dearest customers! I secretly had wished she wouldn't sell so I could keep her BUT I know she will be thoroughly enjoyed & loved in her new home! Thanks bunches girl! :)

Today was such a warm, pleasant sunny day it was so hard for me to sit inside! BUT I did! I've got lots of sweet bunnies & other goodies in the works but thought I'd share a pic of just a few I've gotten done so far~

AND a few of my punchneedle samplers I got finished finally got their new "old" frames done by David (he makes all my frames from old wood & leaves the original paint)!

Well, that's it for now! Back to work I go!! Many more goodes to finish!

What a wonderful weekend for an open house!!

We had a wonderful weekend for our Spring Tyme in the Country Open House! Couldn't have asked for better weather & of course, we have the BEST customers in the world!! All my sewn goodes ~ and most of the spring redware ~ sold out by lunch on Saturday so as soon as things slowed a bit later in the afternoon, I left David in charge so I could get back to the sewing machine. Was able to get a few new goodes out there today & they sold too!! Soooo I'll be chained to the sewing machine this week to get LOTS of new goodes ready for when we reopen on Wednesday! I PROMISE lots more rabbits & pillows & some new goodes that didn't get finished this weekend!! (I'll be sure to make a few extra, too, to take to Salisbury to our booth for those that stop in there!).

For those who have visited the shop over the years, chances were Freckles was there to greet you! She loved being in the shop & seeing the customers! And, when she wasn't in the shop, those who had met her would always ask where she was.....

She was our sweet little girl ~ we don't have children (our choice) but she was our "oldest" daughter. Yesterday she was quite sick & by nite I knew she had to be dehydrated & something was wrong, so David & I rushed her to the emergency animal hospital in Greensboro...I'm not going to go into details ~ it's quite too hard at the moment ~ but she had a lot of things wrong & after half the nite at the hospital we had to make the decision to let her go. It was NOT an easy one ~ she has been my constant companion for 14 years & has lived with David & I since we got married almost 9 years ago....I will write more later when I am doing a bit better ~ it has been a very rough nite & day so far...

We will all miss her terribly ~ including her sisters Mara & Millie (feline sisters who can't quite figure out what's going on) & her "nana" & "papaw" (my parents who she LOVED to visit! & lived with them until D & I married)....

Well, GUESS WHO finally found their memory card?!! FINALLY! Snowstorm of '09 produces MUCH more than snow!!

Sunday eve produced a nice winter snowstorm - the first real one we've had in many years. By 2 am we had 5 inches of snow!! Yippee!!
Here's a pic of Freckles today out enjoying sledding with us! She's an olde gal ~ almost 14 ~ but doesn't act her age & loves the snow as much as us!!

ANDDDDD

it never fails, when the pressure changes in the atmosphere, that's usually when lambs will be born! So, sure enough, at 11:47 last nite Wildflower gave birth to a sweet baby boy.

THEN

at 12:45 she gave birth to ANOTHER baby boy! TWINS!

Now, the flash makes this lil' guy look brown, but he's really dark black...And the FUNNY thing is, we don't RAISE BLACK sheep!! We don't have a single one in our flock! Not even a black FACE!! Guessing this one picked up some genes from a few generations back! hehe!!!

Our Spring Tyme in the Country open house will be the first weekend of Spring!!! Yippee!! March 21st & 22nd! So I'm busy here turning new pieces of pottery, sewing up a storm & packages are arriving with lots of wonderful spring tyme goodes!! Bunnies, bunnies & more bunnies too!!

Farm News ~ We had decided to let our "girls" take a break from lambing this year. We lost 2 of our momma girls this past summer & last spring's girls we felt would be too young to breed (though technically they could have been). So we were going to let our new girls grow a bit & give our older girls a break. Well, to mention, we had a ram lamb born last spring as well. Well, rams aren't supposed to be able to breed until they're 4 months of age, but we moved him over to the other pasture here at the shop with our other males. BUT apparently he was a little.....mature....for his age..Sooooo we have at least one momma due SOON. Now, I say one 1, David is certain at least 2 of them are. But, with sheep you don't know they're pregnant until they're ready to deliever! Sooo, we have one (Wildflower) who is about to POP!

What does all this mean? Well, looks like we'll be having lambs for spring!! All of our regular customers who love to stop at the barn & visit with the girls, hopefully they'll be a little one or two to visit if you come down for spring open house!!

And, YES, I promised to be better with pictures & such with this new computer. Would you believe I've NOW lost my memory card for my camera?! Ugh!! I was cleaning & put it in a real safe place, just temporarily...well, that place seems to be REALLY REALLY safe....

Soo as soon as I FIND it I'll be posting new pics of spring goodes, the shop transformation to spring, and babies when they're born!!

Well, after several stores & bunches of thinking! later, I finally have a NEW laptop who not only seems to like me but also likes my camera! Yippee!! So now I zippin' & zoomin' along again (though much faster than before!), AND I can keep my blog up to date & with pics too!! (who knows ~ may actually get that ole' picturetrail going!)

As I faced my Maker at the last judgment, I knelt before the Lord along with all the other souls. Before each of us laid our lives like the squares of a quilt in many piles; an angel sat before each of us sewing our quilt squares together into a tapestry that is our life.But as my angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I noticed how ragged and empty each of my squares was. They were filled with giant holes. Each square was labeled with a part of my life that had been difficult, the challenges and temptations I was faced with in every day life. I saw hardships that I endured, which were the largest holes of all.I glanced around me. Nobody else had such squares. Other than a tiny hole here and there, the other tapestries were filled with rich color and the bright hues of worldly fortune. I gazed upon my own life and was disheartened.My angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth together, threadbare and empty, like binding air.Finally the time came when each life was to be displayed, held up to the light, the scrutiny of truth. The others rose; each in turn, holding up their tapestries. So filled their lives had been.My angel looked upon me, and nodded for me to rise. My gaze dropped to the ground in shame. I hadn't had all the earthly fortunes. I had love in my life, and laughter. But there had also been trials of illness, and wealth, and false accusations that took from me my world, as I knew it. I had to start over many times. We are BACK home after 12 days in Charlotte!! We had a wonderful show ~ thank you to all our customers! We met lots of new people & were so happy to see returning customers too!
We also won an award!! We received Honorable Mention for our booth display! I was soo tickled! I will post pics later as soon as I get my camera dug out of the truck!

The rest of this week we will be feverishly preparing for our 6th Annual Christmas in the Country Holiday Open House!! What fun, what fun!! I will be sure to post a few sneak peeks as we progress thru the transformation into Holiday mode!

Well, after over 40 hours of painting & 6 hours (!!) sanding, 200ish signs are ready for the Southern Christmas Show (and a few for the shop)!!! Yes, I now have a Popeye muscle on my right arm! LoL They still have to be stained, but that goes a bit quicker as David can help with that! We have a saying for everything ~ Outhouse, Laundry Room, Santa Claus is Coming to Town & many, many, more!! We'll be in booth 1110-1112!

What is Halloween without this classic?! I love it!!

DH & I just got thru watching it tonite ~ me for the upteenth time, hubby for the first time (he had seen bits & pieces & listened to the soundtrack endlessly because of me though! LoL)

My best friend in college & I both were addicted to it! And, so much so, in fact, Halloween 1997, we went to a live performance of it ~ in which the audience participates! What fun! Of course, you have to "dress" a part! Here's a pic of me with David (we had only been dating about a month at the time of this pic ~ boy he didn't know what he was gettin' into, hehe!!). Can you tell the pastey white make-up & blood red lipstick? See my funky gold tiarra?! What you CAN'T see is the rest of the black tux jacket, black strech bellbottom pants & funky platform shoes! What a fun nite we had! And, no, David did NOT go with us ~ we couldn't convience hubby & my bf's boyfriend/now-hubby to go with us! Wonder whY?? LoL

Well, if you have found yourself here while trying to reach our website, we have made some changes!!! The website that our server was on was down for 2 weekends in a row, the last weekend lasting almost 5 days. While I have been with this company for many years, for the past 6 months there have been days off & on the website has been down & then for the past two weekends to last the way they did just seemed to be a sign we needed to move on..Quite frustrating & senseless to pay the money for a sight no one can view! We've been discussing this for a while, so for now at least, we will just do updates & such here (that way *knock on wood* there won't be the down times)....And, after the busy holiday season we hope to have our picturetrail sight up & running for sales! So don't worry ~ for those who are too far away to visit our shop or attend our shows, we will resume shipping as soon as I get that all set up! In the meantime, I will post goodies here as time allots & if anyone is interested OR interested in something that was on our website, please feel free to let me know!

Kittens to good home! For those who know us & who have came to the shop, animals are a huge part of our life. And because we have a plethora of furry babies, our home & farm is running full!! Well, now a momma kitty has shown up here with 5 little kittens in tow! I really don't know how they find our way to us, but I guess they know we'll tend to them! Or feed them! LoL

The mom is quite skittish, but the kittens are old enough to be weaned so the babies are currently living in our sunroom awaiting their forever home! We just put them in there last nite & "showed" them the liter box, well, they took right to it! So they're all liter box trained if anyone should decide they want to keep them inside!

I will post pics of them tomorrow ~ there are 4 boys & 1 girl! If anyone's interested in the meantime, please email!

Well, it was supposed to be the basket to put my gingerbread men as I finished stuffing them, but my sweet Mara, decided the basket looked like a wonderful place to curl up!

We are working feverishly to get all sorts of goodies ready for the Southern Christmas Show in November and our Holiday Open House after we get back from show. So while the posts here may get more sporatic as we get closer to November, we are still "here" ~ just covered in fabric, fluff, paint, clay, sawdust, wax, etc...LoL

We will be sure to update with the dates & our booth for the Southern Christmas Show, and of course, we'll be adding info for our 6th Annual Christmas in the Country Holiday Open House!

Pa trip

Here's a few pics of the goodes we picked up while on our buying trip to Pa this week!! YES, we looked like the Beverly Hillbillies coming down the road, but we couldn't pass some of the finds up! We had left the trailer at home because it's still tourist season in Pa so we didn't want to have to fight that traffic with a trailer....
But, sad to think I still left some goodes behind that just wouldn't fit!!!!

The goodies are still waiting to make their way into the shop ~ some may not know, but we've been under major demo & David's been finishing up the last details this weekend. Sooo, I've had to wait for him to get done before I can move things around & get the goodies in!! They'll be ready to go for our Harvest Gathering in a few weeks! More details later...

David & I just spent the past few days in Pa on one last buying trip before fall open house & the holiday season begins. And, while it was a "business" trip, the one treat I had on my list was to go up to the Cinnamon Stick in Hereford, Pa. Here's a pic of the outside (borrowed your pic Judy, hope you don't mind!):

The shop, to say the least, is a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e. And Judy is the sweetest little shopkeeper! We truely enjoyed our visit & oh the goodies she has! If you're in the area & looking for unique primitives (and wonderful handmade ones, too), then you HAVE to head to her shop! Tell her I sent ya :) And, of course, while you're there, Homespuns is next door & shopkeeper Kay has wonderful hand-dyed woolens, bolts & bolts of fabric & other sewing goodes.

As for how we made out on our buying trip, well, we've got LOTS of goodies to pile into the shop! I'll post pics of some of our finds tomorrow. For now, it's back to the shop to work & wiggle some of the goodies in!

A New Location for our goodes!

We're still keeping up shop here, don't get me wrong! We've just expanded! David & I, along with my dear friend Beth, spent the better part of yesterady settin up shop in Salisbury. Nestled in the historic town, in an old factory (dating back to pre-WWI!), the factory has been beautifully renovated into an emporium full of all sorts of goodies ~ from antiques to home decor & primitives, there's something for everyone! We have a wonderful selection of our pottery, soy candles, soy lotions, soy room sprays, sewn goodes, primitive wares, and much more down there! All the furniture pieces, by the way, are David's handiwork & are all for sale. So if you can't make it up this way, be sure to stop in the Emporium! AND if you happen to be in the Emporium, we're only 30 more minutes up the road, so check out both locations! We'll be continually adding new things in both locations!

We just recieved our shipment of Crossroads Reed Diffusers! If youv'e never used one, these things are great! And we picked scents that were close to our best-sellers in our soy candle line. They're perfect for an office, bathroom, or just a little spot you want some scent without burning a candle. And they last for a long, long time! We also have the holders, too! Due to the overwhelming success of the holiday redware designs I did, I've been working off & on on some new designs....Well, after a few misses, I finally hit on some designs I liked the outcome of !

The line is ALL patriotic pieces! There are stars, flags, etc. They came out wonderful & we just spent this afternoon reworking an area in the shop to display these pieces in all their "glory"!

I've decided it's time to part ways with some things in my personal collection.

Sooo what does this mean?

Lots of these primitive wares will be available in our brick & mortar store! All the items
are pieces that I just simply love tho no longer have the room for....so they're in need of a
new home! I've added a few things today ~ an old chippy black bench & an old quilt! I'll
be digging out more things & taking them to the shop in the morning! So if you're in the area,
we hope you'll stop in!

On a side note, we have a smaller, but still good! selection of herbs & flowers left!

I've been in a patriotic mood lately with things I've been working on...maybe it's because I'm a Memorial Day baby (which my dear hubby keeps reminding me is NOT far off)...or because now that spring open house has passed, I feel like it's time for stars & stripes...

In all actuality, I LOVE flags. Especially old ones. In fact, we have our spare bedroom done up in patriotic theme...

so where am I going with this??!

Wellll...

being in a patriotic mood has been carried over into the shop. I just got in a shipment of star flag bundting ~ tea stained. They really are pretty! I've finished up some sweet little liberty bust dolls. VERY cute!! Extremely primitive, too! And I'm working on a few more patriotic dolls & a wonderful punchneedle piece.

So stop on in the shop to find lots of goodies for your patriotic home ~ even if just for the summertime!!

to all those who schelped out in the rain & mud yesterday & today for our Open House. We enjoyed the visits from old friends ~ and new! ~ and hope to see you all again soon!

On another note, everyone who made it out enjoyed the availability & selection of herbs & flowers so much that I've decided to offer them for a few more weeks! But hurry! Once they're gone, no more will be in stock! We have all the wonderful common herbs & some really unique annuals & perinnials. A few hanging baskets left too ~ including some hummingbird plants!

ALSO the Tomato Leaf lotion & soap didn't get bottled in time for this weekend (I just ran out of time!) so I'll be finishing it up & will have it out in the shop this week. As well as some more sewn goodies (a few dolls, some sheep & new rabbits).

Spring Gatherings at Homethrown Pottery!!

This weekend is our FIRST annual SPRING OPEN HOUSE ~ aptly called "Spring Gatherings at Homethrown Pottery" because...well....I wanted something catchy...AND we have a huge gathering of spring goodies for this weekend! I'm still frantically sewing away, painting furniture, pouring candles, working on soap....The last load of pottery went into the kiln last nite & will come out Friday evening. I have quite a few new pottery pieces ~ the shelves will be fully stocked! And David took the day off work today to help get a few more things finished up ~ a few more cabinets & birdhouses...

AND

to destruct our kitchen..

YES! of ALL times for something to go wrong, our refridgerator DIED yesterday. Kaput...According to the repairman it had lived its life & would be cheaper to buy a new one...Well if you haven't bought a fridge lately, it's like buying a small used car! It took a trip to Lowes & to Sears ~ and 4 hours later ~ before we commited to one..BUT what does this have to do with destruction of our kitchen? Well, I didn't want a regular refridgerator this time ~ I wanted a side-by-side. And he said "Oh, it'll fit." Turns out he was humoring me. It needs an extra 1/2" at least...So he & papaw are going to have to "modify" (his words) the hole a bit to make it fit. Mind you there's a wall on one side & cabinets on the other so I have NO idea how he will be modifying. I probably don't want to know..And did you all know they no longer keep fridgerators in stock? My guess would be because there's too dadgum many to choose from & they have no room. It's ridiculous the choices! So it will be delivered in all its glory ~ in the rain ~ tomorrow...

I digressed...

We'll be heading out in the morning for the Spring Crafts in the Afternoon at the Greensboro Farmer's Curb Market. We've been participating in this show for 5 or so years now. It's a sweet little show & we've made several friends there over the years. We haven't seen many of them since the Christmas show, so along with setting up to show we'll be catching up with dear friends! There are quite a few talented artists there & a large variety of items. I'll be beside my dear friend, Kim McEntee, who makes wonderful primitive dolls. And very close to us will be Zaytoon's booth, which is also a wonderful Mediterranean cafe in Greensboro. They always have the most wonderful goat cheese & spinach pitas (really a flaky crossiant), and stuffed grape leaves, olives, ohhh lots of yummies!!
If you're in the area, the Greensboro Farmer's Curb Market is on Yanceyville St. in Greensboro, across from the old ball stadium (not far from A&T as well).
I'll have a good variety of pottery, lots of spring primitives, & sprays, lotions, etc. They only allow us one table, but we're going to cram as much as we can on there!! :)

It was taken a few years ago when we first brought our female sheep home ~ we were in the stall with them & of course, she wanted to see what was going on!

Well, I'm back from Charlotte & have almost rested up! I worked a bit as time allowed at the show & have finished up two more punchneedle pieces ~ and just finished up a small hooked rug this morning!

Along with these new pieces I've finished up, I have lots of goodies to put out in the shop in the morning! I have some new sewn goodies ~ from sheep to rabbits to pillows & more! As well as a few new candle scents & a few new spray scents, some wonderful cupboard candles, and some wooden rabbits that David made! They turned out super-neat! He took a few with us to Charlotte & the response was wonderful so he has a few to put out in the shop, too!

As most of you know, David & I make 95% of the items in the shop, but I do bring in items to compliment the shop ~ braided rugs, amish barn stars, cookbooks, etc. And with our Spring Gathering coming up in just a few weeks, new goodies have already started arriving!!

For those familiar with my work, you'll know that "pretty" raggedies are not normally my style...Most of my works are much more primitive...But I have ventured outside the box a bit & created this lil' gal the other day...She has wool hair that has been felted on ~ another new venture of sorts for me (I've only tried it one other time on a Santa's beard)...Anywo, she still needs an outfit ~ I can't decide what looks best on her! hehe! If she manages to get dressed in time, she'll be going with me to Charlotte...If not, then she'll be in the shop after I get back...Let me know what ya think! :)
